September is Suicide Prevention Month –
Let’s Help Veterans Get Back On Course!
There is no question that an epidemic has settled over the veteran community—a suicide epidemic. The last report from the Department of Veterans Affairs stated an average of 20 veterans die by suicide every day, a number everyone can agree is 20 too many. And as the COVID-19 crisis continues, suicide risk for veterans grows.
Many veterans consider suicide as a result of mental illness, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Sometimes known as shell shock or combat stress, PTSD occurs after you experience severe trauma or a life-threatening event. It’s normal for your mind and body to be in shock after such an event, but this normal response becomes PTSD when your nervous system gets “stuck.”
These men and women volunteered and fought for our freedom. They are not getting the services they need. We can and should do better by them. Tee It Up for the Troops raises funds to provide critically needed services for combat veterans and their families and we are asking for your help.
Our Tee It Up for the Troops events and REUNION program are instrumental in bringing healthy mental well-being and enjoyment to combat veterans outside of war. Our events and your donations help fund our efforts, and are powerful ways for you, your company, and your foundation to make a significant difference in a veteran’s daily life!
HELP US HELP VETERANS! We are a non-profit organization that depends on the generosity of supporters like you.
